HONOURING PENANG’S 2019 WORKERS’ DAY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

PENANG, 22.6.2019, Saturday: On 1.5.2019, a contingent of 80 personnel from Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) “worked hard” to represent Penang in the National Workers’ Day Celebration 2019 at Putrajaya.

PBAPP out-performed 92 other contingents to receive the “Champion for Best Contingent” trophy from Prime Minister YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

Today, the Penang State Government and PBAPP hosted a special event in the Tech Dome, Komtar, for all PBAPP personnel who contributed to the victory, as well as their family members.

Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow said Penang appreciated the spirit, sacrifice and success of the PBAPP team.

“Most workers spent a relaxing Workers’ Day with their families. However, the members of PBAPP’s contingent volunteered to represent Penang in a national event”, he said.

YAB Tuan Chow praised PBAPP’s personnel for their willingness to raise Penang’s colours up high in the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

“You did Penang proud. Today, we honour your spirit, sacrifice and success with a family day event, just for you and your families. We truly value your good deed on Worker’s Day 2019,” he said.

PBA Holdings Bhd and PBAPP CEO Dato’ Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa said PBAPP “rocked” the PICC on 1.5.2019, while competing against contingents from KPJ, PERKESO, Tenaga Nasional, Telekom Malaysia, Prasarana Malaysia, Maybank and Petronas.

“We were not the biggest contingent. We did not wear the most eye-catching uniforms or use the latest high-tech props.

“However, we were the liveliest, most passionate and loudest team in the arena. The judges, thousands of people present and TV viewers nationwide were watching. We showed them the spirit of PBAPP and our firm commitment to excel in everything that we do,” he said.

The championship title was bestowed upon PBAPP by a panel of judges representing the Malaysian Employers’ Federation, MTUC, CUEPACS and the Ministry of Human Resources.

DOUBLE WIN

On 1.5.2019, Tun Dr. Mahathir also presented Dato’ Ir. Jaseni with the “Anugerah Perdana Menteri Tokoh Mahir 2019.”

The Prime Minister’s Award recognises his key contributions in championing, developing and promoting competency training programmes for the water supply industry in Malaysia.

YAB Tuan Chow congratulated PBAPP for its “double win” on 1.5.2019.

“You have made 1.5.2019 a day to remember; for yourselves, for PBAPP and for Penang.

“Please keep up the good work. We are counting on your strong support to achieve the Penang Vision 2030 aspiration of becoming a family-focused, green and smart state that inspires the nation,” he added.
